Does anyone else love computers but hate the internet? Computers used to be
escapist toys for nerds now they are narcissus ponds for vapid socialites.
Cyberspace has really lost it’s soul. I think smart and or interesting people are going to have to launch a back to paper back to text mode bbs minitel hieroglyphics movement to regain their independence from the philistines. Maybe if i used braille Yiddish with carrier pigeons I could avoid imbibing the lameness of the present day.

  29. gentlerat says:

I’d love to believe this, but a lot of the internet is basically just a place for already cliched opinions to get expressed ad nauseum by people who think they’re expressing something new. This is especially true in politics, where, for example, the entire immigration debate is “We’re under invasion!” v. “We are a nation of immigrants.” Tell me something I haven’t heard already! As George Orwell would say (sarcastically) “the fascist octopus has sung its swan song.”
